GPSdash Series 1.x News
GPSdash is still under development. News about upcoming releases, bugs, bugfixes (hopefully) and new features will be posted here.
- 05/03/15 - GPSdash v1.7 released!
This new release increases the compatibility with "RMC only" receivers, features some improvements for the Dashboard and improves the map import capability of the software. For more information about the changes please visit the change section.
- 05/02/21 - GPSdash v1.67 released!
As there are many situations in which not only the current value of a gauge is of interest, GPSdash now also displays the maximum, the minimum and the average of the speed and the altitude function. For more information about the changes please visit the change section.
- 05/02/18 - GPSdash v1.65 released!
With this new release, GPSdash offers the possibility to import maps/calibration-data from other GPS applications. For the moment, you can import maps of GPS Tuner (*.gmi). Beside this new feature, this release also fixes a bug in the display of the altimeter. For more information about the changes and how to use the new import feature please visit the change section.
- 05/01/04 - Site is working for PocketPCs again
Originally this site automatically adapted to the PocketPC browser (Pocket IE) but this feature got lost at some point. The issue is resolved now and I am hoping to get some hits from your PocketPCs ;)
- 05/01/01 - GPSdash v1.62 released!
As many users also had problems with how Microsoft intended the PocketPC Help system to work ( Start->Help or 'F1' - they never found the manual on the PocketPC), I now added direct links to the manual in the 'Tools' menu and the GPSdash 'About' dialog. Furthermore, I made minor adaptions for the new PocketPC's with WM2003SE and VGA resolution.
- 04/12/09 - Reports section updated
It took some time but I finally managed to feed your valuable success-reports into the Reports section. The section now contains nearly 1000 reports of successfully tested PDA/Receiver combinations and the corresponding configuration settings. Because of this overwhelming number, I had to split the section into 10 pages. I really want to thank all the participants who spent their time to fill out the report form.
- 04/11/16 - GPSdash v1.61 released!
The main purpose of this intermediate release is to fix a nasty bug with the map handling code that slipped into the previous release (v1.6). With this update, removing maps and updating a maps metadata via the "Select Map..." dialog should work again as intended. Beside this bugfix, I added some convenience to the GPSdash logging facility. To quicken up the start of creating a new log-file, GPSdash now suggests a filename based on the actual date and time.
- 04/07/27 - GPSdash v1.6 released!
This update of GPSdash is good news not only for all the GeoCachers out there. The most noticable new features are: Import of Waypoints via LOC or GPX files, Export of Waypoints to GPX file, Log-File control - you may now set the recording-rate for each GPS record type, Dashboard layout persistency

- 04/07/02 - GPSdash v1.52 released!
This new release hopefully fixes the last UTM bug that slipped into 1.5 and adds a digital mode for the clock.
- 04/07/03 - Big Brother TomTom
Allmost all users of the infamous TomTom run into problems when they want to use other GPS software like e.g. GPSdash. This is because TomTom knowingly blocks the interface (COM port) to the receiver. Look at this standard answer from the TomTom support:
"TomTom GPS Version 2.08 and higher will block all other COM ports on the PDA to avoid possible conflicts. Since the installation of the GPS driver makes an entry into the registry and we do not recommend our customers to edit the registry themselfs we can only suggest you to first install version 2.07 of the GPS driver on your PDA and then install the Navigator Software. Like this, you can select 'NO' when you are asked to overwrite the older version of the GPS driver with the new one."
Update: There are unconfirmed rumours that v3.03 of the TomTom driver may fix this bug.
- 04/07/02 - GPSdash v1.51 released!
This intermediate release fixes a bug in the handling of UTM coordinates and improves the value formatting for the digital gauges. Beside this, also the PocketPC manual was updated to correspond with this latest version of GPSdash.
- 04/06/13 - GPSdash v1.5 released!
This long awaited update of GPSdash contains some sustainable improvements and I am sure you will like it. The most noticable new features are: Digital Dashboard, NightMode - new color scheme for low light conditions, Distance to Waypoint is now also visible directly in the Dashboard
